We work with street children and youths between the ages of 8 and 27 years, these live in groups and find themselves … public spaces and without basic services such as water showers and electrical energy.

The vast majority has a very minimal level of concentration, the language they use is concrete as is their thinking, in addition it is difficult for them to place e themselves in place and time

Many of them lack any plans for the future, for this reason many of them work occasionally or resort to begging. And it is common that youths present with physical and or psychiatric problems caused in a large part by the consumption of addictive substances.

In addition to this , nearly all street peoples use more than one type of drug, being the inhalable disolvents, marihuana and crack another form of cocaine (in order of appearance) which complicates the options for detoxification.

How do we do it?

This is carried out by a process of group evaluation and diagnosis, in this way the youths that conform which permits the SOS en las calles team to identify the necessities both in groups and on an individual basis, in this way attending to question of sexual protection, addictions and violence.

In this way the SOS en las calle team goes to the street every day with clear objectives and defined activities, paying attention both to group activities and on the other hand reflex ion directed to youths on an individual basis. This allows that positive3 changes are made both within the group and in children who enter into the Transition house.

The programs, which are applied continuously in the street, are:

:::Prevensida Callejero (prevent aids=  pioneering methodology for the prevention of the contagion of  Sexually Transmissible diseases and HIV/AIDs. This educational workshop is carried out in the same place where the group is.

:::Chiras Pelas, Calacas Flacas, which thanks to the traditions about death in Mexico, makes street youths think about the them making them propose strategies for the prevention.
