Mission
El Caracol is a Civil
Association founded by professionals in 1994 that contributes to the visibility
and dignity of street youths and those at risk of becoming street youth;
empowering them through holistic intervention in order to live an independent
life.
Our vision
To be a primary institution
in the research, development and socialization of proposals for interventions
with street youths and those at risk of becoming street youth.
Objectives and Strategies
1. TO
CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS THE HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF STREET CHILDREN AND THOSE AT
RISK OF BECOMING STREET YOUTHS.
Promoting the personal
development and economic independence of adolescents and youths
Carrying out educational and
personalized interventions
Providing educational and
psychological support to street youth.
Developing innovative
educational material that promotes self-reflection in the street youth
population and those at risk of becoming street youth.
Attending to high-risk
behavior in the areas of addictions and sexual and reproductive health.
2. TO
INFLUENCE PUBLIC POLICY AND CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS.
To ensure that the situation
of people living on the streets becomes visible to the society.
Carrying out research in
relation to youths living on the street.
Creating a documentation and
information center specialized in the theme of street youth
Ensuring that proposals
arising from research go to those with the capacity to make changes and
decision.
Relating information to the
media to ensure that the message is transmitted to civil society.
Generating spaces for the
sharing of information and knowledge about the theme of street children
(seminars, specialties, etc.)
3. IMPLEMENT
PROGRAMS AND PERMANENT ACTIONS TO THE INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING OF EL
CARACOL.
Reinforcing leadership in
all lines of action
Generating a reciprocal
obligation of capacitation and socialization of knowledge in the function of
institutional tasks
Assigning a part of the
budget for the professional development of the areas
Equalizing the work-load
Establishing agreements in
instances of training and professional qualification
Increasing the skills of the
team to systematize the experience and the evaluation of the educational
intervention.
Focusing the educational
force in areas of intervention, education, sustainability and research-evaluation.
Counting on a program of
collection of funds and diversification of the sources of finance
Increasing the visibility of
the educational proposal
